Introduction trial at different agro climatic zones were conducted for the following species in Tamilnadu

INTRODUCTION TRIAL FOR BAMBOOS
From 1998 the following species of bamboos have been introduced in various Research centres in Tamil Nadu

ASSEMBLAGE OF CANES
Already 9 nos. of cane species have been assembled with two more additions in 2003-04 as follows:

Calamus vattiayala Calamus metazinus Calamus parsinus
Calamus hookerianus Calamus haegalianus

Calamus nagabettai    

Result: The canes species performing well in order of priority are Calamus rotang, Calamus vattiyala, Calamus thwartsii, and Calamus pesudotenuis.
