Training is one of the effective and tested tools for performance enhancement, as well as for upgradation of knowledge and skills of the respective department personnel. Organizational motivation and morale, as reflected in the attitude & administrative culture, are rendered relevant and sharply focused through effective training.
“The Forest Department is generally unpopular because its aims and objectives are not properly understood.” - F.A.Lodge, C.I.E., IGF, 1922.
‘And This Stigma Still Continues’
Hence, it becomes all the more important for the forestry personnel to equip themselves to understand these objectives better and also make others understand.

Objectives of Forestry Training
  • To improve the technical & administrative skills.
  • To update the knowledge on technique in Human/ Natural Resource Management.
  • To enhance the oral & written communication skills.
  • To impart strategic planning skills/ techniques pertaining to field operations.
  • To develop confidence to face newly emerging challenges
The Forest officers, on appointment, undergo a very elaborate professional training. The forest officers in India are in three levels of management:–
- Top level: Policy making & Planning
- Middle level: Management & Execution
